Primary Objectives
- Ensure the safety and enjoyment of everybody using the health and fitness facilities.
- Promote excellence of customer service and motivate people to enjoy exercise through good communication and selling skills.
- Take responsibility for all aspects of the daily operation of the health and fitness facilities.
- Drive the Expressions brand and specifically adhere to all operational and sales procedures.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
- Undertake the daily operations of the facilities.
- Conduct inductions, fitness assessments and personal programmes in accordance with the Expressions brand.
- Be aware of all health and safety issues within the Centre and continually implement and assess procedures, drawing attention to unsafe practices.
- Guide, care for and assist all fitness users, especially in areas of motivation, well‑being, nutrition and fitness testing.
- Work as part of a team to achieve income and sales targets for the fitness and health facility.
- Ensure the health and fitness facilities are clean, tidy and well presented at all times.
- Undertake maintenance work as required.
- Ensure all equipment and facilities are safe and secure when not in use.
- Assist with any reasonable request to support the daily operations of the Centre.
- Contribute to the Centre's marketing and promotional activity, including participating in social media content, advertisements and marketing materials, and assist in the development and implementation of centre marketing campaigns.
- Make membership sales calls and retention calls.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Classed as a regulated post and requires a DBS Disclosure. Candidates without an existing DBS Disclosure will be submitted for a DBS check.
- Level 3 or equivalent qualification, and willingness to work variable hours, including some evenings and weekends.
- Flexible, reliable, and enjoys working as part of a team.
- Ability to gain acceptance and respect from clients and the teams involved.
- Build strong relationships with customers, clients and employees.
- Communicate at different levels of the organisation, both listen and direct.
- Demonstrate clear identification with all customer requirements.
- Maintain and be committed to good employee relations and deliver quality training.
- Perform recreation assistant duties when required.
About the Facility
The South Holland contract in Lincolnshire involves two sites: a temporary fitness suite and group exercise studio at Boston College, and a swimming pool complex. The contract is moving to a single, brand‑new super centre in early 2027, which will combine both sites and offer a range of state‑of‑the‑art facilities including two swimming pools, a fitness studio, a soft play area, a group exercise studio, a sports hall, an indoor cycling studio, consultation rooms, a wellness room, a small café, an indoor bowls hall and a new state‑of‑the‑art outdoor 3G training pitch.
