Overview
London Based, US Qualified (JD) Associate / Tax Attorney (1–4 PQE) UHNW Private Client & Tax — London-based private client & tax practice in a leading international law firm. The role offers the opportunity to advise a sophisticated client base, including high-net-worth individuals, families, family offices, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists on complex cross-border matters.
The Role
The successful candidate will work closely with partners and senior lawyers across the international Private Client & Tax division, focusing on:
- US and international trust and estate planning
- Expatriation and pre-immigration planning
- Cross-border philanthropy
- Structuring of passive and active investments for US and non-US clients investing in the US
The work is diverse, intellectually challenging, and offers exposure to an exceptional global client base.
Candidate Requirements
- Admission to practice law in the US
- 1–4 years’ post-qualification experience (JD preferred)
- LLM in taxation, a law school concentration in tax/estate planning, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong skills in researching US tax law (e.g. Title 26 / IR Code),
- Preparing technical advice memoranda, and drafting wills and trusts
- Confident communicator, with experience advising clients directly
- Prior experience outside the US, ideally in London, is highly advantageous
- Hybrid working (2–3 days per week in office)
- Standard hours: 9:30am–5:30pm (flexibility required)
