An excellent opportunity to develop your career in agricultural and rural property

Lex Exec is working with a highly regarded, established law firm in Reading that is continuing to invest in and expand its Agricultural & Rural Property practice.

The team advises an impressive client base including farming families, landed estates, high-net-worth individuals, institutional landowners, universities and investors. The quality and complexity of the work is comparable to that undertaken by leading London practices, while offering a more balanced and flexible working environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a junior solicitor with an interest in rural property to develop specialist expertise alongside experienced, supportive partners.

The Opportunity

You will gain exposure to a broad range of agricultural, rural and development matters, including:

  • Agricultural land and estate acquisitions and disposals
  • Farm tenancies, succession rights and surrenders
  • Rural diversification and strategic land development
  • Renewable energy projects, including solar farms
  • Wayleaves, easements and access arrangements
  • Overage agreements and development transactions
  • Biodiversity net gain, natural capital and environmental schemes
  • Wider commercial property and real estate transactions

The role offers a combination of managing your own matters and working collaboratively on larger, more complex transactions.

About You

We would be particularly interested in speaking with solicitors who have experience in agricultural property, rural land or broader commercial real estate.

You may already be specialising in agricultural property or be a junior real estate solicitor looking to develop your career in this area.

More important than a particular PQE level is a genuine interest in the rural sector, strong technical foundations and the ability to build relationships with clients.

Applications from newly qualified solicitors with relevant experience will also be considered.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

High-quality work: Exposure to sophisticated rural, agricultural and development transactions for an impressive client base.

Established expertise: Work closely with highly experienced partners who are committed to mentoring and developing junior lawyers.

Career development: Excellent training, direct client exposure and opportunities to build your own professional network.

Work-life balance: A 35-hour working week, flexible core hours of 10am–4pm and typically three days in the office.

Collaborative culture: An approachable, supportive team with a strong emphasis on professional development.

Excellent location: Reading office approximately five minutes from the station, with fast connections to London Paddington.

The firm is open-minded on experience and will consider candidates who demonstrate the right aptitude, motivation and long-term interest in the sector.
