We are currently recruiting for Temporary Part Time Retail Assistants to join the store team at our TJ Hughes Glasgow store at the St Enoch Shopping Centre, for the busy Christmas period from 8 October to 24 December 2025.
Roles available are for 8, 16 & 20 hours per week, typically worked as a 4-hour shift over any days out of Sunday to Saturday.
As a retail assistant your role is to support the store manager in achieving store objectives, including the delivery of sales targets, stock availability, replenishment, high levels of visual merchandising and customer service excellent.
Responsibilities
- Delivers an excellent standard of customer service through active approach and conversation with our customers demonstrating the ability to provide in depth customer service.
- Keeps up to date with latest products and offers on a daily basis and to display appropriate levels of stock in a prominent position and priced correctly.
- High merchandising and pricing standards.
- Proactively maintains an excellent level of display by regularly checking stockrooms for replenishment of own product area at suitable times throughout the day.
- Reports any customer requests / comments about section’s product range to Manager and assists in the drive for improvement.
- Reports any stock/availability issues to the Manager on own product area in order to resolve stock outs and develop sales.
- Proactive with personal HASAWA responsibilities towards self, customers & staff.
- Keeps up to date with key communications including daily sales targets.
- Supports Loss Prevention by staying vigilant at all times for both customer and staff theft.
- Supports admin office to ensure all cash and administrative processes are carried out in accordance with company policy, and in a way that gives a good level of service to the shopfloor and stockroom teams.
- Supports new starters in their induction.
- Will actively suggest improvements for own product area.
- Has a regular focus on delivering an excellent standard of general housekeeping.
- Any other duties as required in accordance with the needs of the business / store operations.
Required Skills
- Experience of working within a fast-paced retail environment (useful, but not essential)
- Confident and personable approach to teamwork with both customers and staff
- Able to work quickly whilst maintaining accuracy & consistency
