To deliver high‑quality property surveying services across the Council's housing stock, carrying out inspections, diagnosing defects, preparing specifications, and ensuring timely and effective delivery of HRA capital and remedial works. The Property Services Surveyor will support the Senior Property Surveyor with complex cases, contribute to contractor management, and provide technical expertise to ensure a safe, compliant, and customer‑focused repairs and planned maintenance service.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections of occupied and void properties, including responsive repairs, damp and mould, HHSRS hazards, building defects, voids and stock condition surveys.
- Diagnose root causes accurately and prepare clear, detailed work specifications, schedules and drawings.
- Scope, specify and raise works orders using schedules of rates or composite values.
- Monitor contractor delivery, ensuring quality, value for money and compliance with specifications.
- Provide technical input and support responses to escalated complaints, Members’ enquiries and complex cases under the guidance of a Senior Surveyor.
- Maintain accurate records and support the delivery of HRA capital and remedial works.
Qualifications and Experience
- HNC/HND in Building Surveying or equivalent experience.
- Sound knowledge of building pathology, housing construction, and repair techniques.
- Strong diagnostic, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Experience in monitoring contractor performance and quality.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and maintain accurate records.
- Strong contract and performance management skills.

Primarily based at Laurence House with a hybrid work arrangement between the office and home.
