Job Overview
We are looking for a Senior Social Worker to join our innovative Families First Contact Point (FFCP).
The role is crucial within a multi‑disciplinary team, making key decisions about the right help and support for children and families using the Lewisham Family Help Continuum of Need.
Key Responsibilities
- Screen all contacts using the RAG rating system and conduct triage work, including information gathering and MASH checks.
- Visit families to complete Family Help assessments and coordinate appropriate support.
- Make professional judgments on risk and need, determining whether statutory intervention is required or community‑based resources are sufficient.
- Work collaboratively with a co‑located multi‑disciplinary team to reduce duplication and hand‑offs for families.
- Use relational, strengths‑based, trauma‑informed, anti‑racist, restorative and Signs of Safety approaches to deliver interventions.
- Key Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Social Work or a related field.
- Significant experience in social work, including senior or supervisory roles.
- Experience working in Multi‑Agency Safeguarding Hubs (MASH) and conducting comprehensive assessments.
- Knowledge of the Family Help Continuum of Need and contact/assessment services.
- Excellent problem‑solving, decision‑making, organisational and time‑management abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
