You would be part of the Council's Enablement team which supports a wide range of people living in their own homes who require a short term period of care and support to regain confidence in their daily living tasks. The majority of the people we support have been in Hospital following a fall, planned surgery or a short illness. The programme of enablement is also supported by a team of therapists, nurses and Social workers.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who can work on either a split shift on Saturday, Sundays and Bank holidays or an AM or PM shift at weekends. You will be an excellent communicator who can record accurate feedback on progress as well as encouraging an individual to attempt a range of care tasks alongside you. You will be a competent professional who has experience of care giving within a paid or unpaid capacity. You will work as part of a team but will also be expected to use your initiative and have a flexible “can do” approach. You will offer reassurance and competence to our citizens while delivering a safe service. You will be a driver, or cyclist to ensure you can maximise travel time to visits.

Location

The job is based in the community working in clients' homes. The office is based in Ladywell.

Special conditions

  • NVQ 2 or above is desirable
  • You will require access to your own car or a bicycle to travel between visits.
  • Weekend working and bank holidays may form part of your shift pattern.
  • You will be required to work anywhere in the Borough of Lewisham.
  • The job is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
