Role

Art Tutor (Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Collage & Art Appreciation)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a range of creative art classes, focusing on drawing and painting techniques, printmaking and collage, and art appreciation and visual exploration.
  • Encourage creativity, self‑expression, and confidence through art.
  • Run each course for 2 hours per week, once a week, over 11 weeks per term, across 3 terms per year.
  • Teach on a set weekday, either 10:00–12:00 or 13:00–15:00, with some flexibility around day and time to accommodate tutor availability.
  • Possibly teach more than one class per week.

Who You’ll Teach

You will work with adult learners who have a wide range of learning support needs, disabilities, and/or mental health conditions. Learners with SEND may present varying conditions, limitations, skills, and abilities. Learners with mental health conditions may have experienced trauma, grief, depression, anxiety or other challenges, and may vary from very low to highly developed skill levels. Most learners are returning to education, while some may be engaging for the first time.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A strong background and passion for art, including drawing, painting and printmaking.
  • Compassion and experience (or a willingness to develop skills) in supporting learners described above.
  • A patient, inclusive, and flexible teaching approach, with a commitment to delivering high‑quality, engaging sessions.
  • Creativity, energy and enthusiasm, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on learners in an enjoyable and meaningful way.

Salary

£34.72 per hour.
