Lewisham Islamic Institute is a faith-based supplementary school that delivers Islamic teachings and prophetic principles in a safe learning environment. A professional and committed team works to deliver an ethos centered on positively transforming pupils through the book of Allah (swt) and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (saw). Our curriculum is broad and balanced and delivered comprehensively to suit the varying needs of all its pupils.
The Role
We are looking for a part-time dedicated Quran and Islamic Studies teacher to educate in a thriving and upcoming Islamic institute in the heart of Lewisham. This role is remote, and all sessions will be conducted online. We are looking for a capable teacher who can not only teach but also build meaningful relationships while managing a classroom. We require a teacher who intends to nurture students between the ages of 5 and 16 years old and can be seen as an active role model to the students.
Our teaching time runs Monday to Thursday, 5:30pm to 7:30pm. We are flexible to work in and around these days and timings.
Responsibilities:
- To teach children to learn about Islam and to inspire them to be better Muslims by being a good role model.
- To follow the lesson plans and curriculum we have established and deliver sessions in a creative and engaging manner.
- To assess students\' learning to ensure teaching practice and learning is of the highest standard.
- To follow and implement all policies and procedures established by Lewisham Islamic Institute.
Requirements:
- A reliable and approachable character
- Ability to record and measure progress
- Good classroom management
- Ability to encourage and inspire students to love Islam
- Competent in teaching Qur’an with Tajweed rules
- Must be proficient in Zoom
- Knowledgeable of safeguarding procedures
