Are you a confident communicator who can turn complex information into clear, accessible content? If you’re looking to build a career in user experience, digital content or service design, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

We’re looking for a Web Content Officer to join us on a 12‑month fixed‑term project that will directly improve how residents interact with the Council online. Working closely with our ICT and Communications teams, you’ll help develop a new Contact Us experience for our website, analyse resident enquiries to identify pain points, improve web content and create a knowledge base of the most common questions residents ask. Your work will help make our services easier to access and understand.

What’s in it for you? Excellent training and development opportunities, plus a range of benefits including:

  • Generous holiday allowance
  • Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Flexible working and family friendly policies
  • Season ticket and bicycle loans
  • A range of staff discounts including local subsidised gym memberships
  • Supportive staff networks

This role also offers a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience in user experience, content design, digital communications and service improvement within a large and complex organisation.

We’re seeking someone who is curious, organised and passionate about improving digital experiences. You’ll enjoy working with people, listening to feedback and identifying opportunities to make things better. You’ll be comfortable writing and editing content, analysing patterns in resident enquiries and collaborating with colleagues across different services. Most importantly, you’ll be motivated by helping residents find the information and support they need quickly and easily.

The job is primarily based in our offices in Catford, London, SE6 4RU but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work in the office at least two days per week, and from home on a regular basis.

Educated to degree level or equivalent, with evidence of continuous professional development. Occasional evening working may be required to meet service needs.

Salary £45,852-£47,925 per annum (PO2). All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point (SCP) for the grade of the role; the only exception to this will be when matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale), which is subject to evidential proof.
