Do you hold a National or International Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in passenger carrying operations with experience in a passenger transport environment, particularly social care and/or education? Do you understand the issues challenging local authority transport services? Are you a good team player and communicator able to manage in a sometimes challenging environment to meet the needs of diverse audiences, including presenting, representing and promoting services effectively?
To manage the delivery of an effective passenger transport provision on behalf of, and in partnership with, Client Directorates, and to provide advice on all matters relating to passenger services. To be one of the nominated Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) / Permit Holders named on the London Borough of Lewisham Passenger Vehicle Operator’s Licence. To take responsibility for the day‑to‑day management, direction and control of directly employed staff, agency workers and other service providers in the delivery of passenger services for SEN students and adults with disabilities.

You will be able to lead a small team of operational managers overseeing a workforce of 120+ drivers and attendants. You will be experienced in delivering passenger transport services and have an excellent knowledge of transport‑related legal requirements and health & safety legislation. You will be able to schedule resources, ensuring vehicle maintenance, annual leave, sickness absence, performance, training and service delivery are managed effectively, in accordance with policies and within budget restraints. You will be able to work on a changing shift arrangement to ensure management cover between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday.
The job is primarily based in Wearside Service Centre, and you will be required to attend the office during working hours, with the option to work from home if necessary during service downtime.
Special conditions: National or International Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in passenger carrying operations. The job is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
