Overview

Abbey Manor College is a high-achieving Pupil Referral Unit located in the London Borough of Lewisham. We provide education for young people who have been permanently excluded from mainstream schools or are at risk of exclusion.

We are looking for a Health and Social Care professional to work with some of our most vulnerable students and their families. This is a key role in helping us to achieve our mission to deliver exceptional education to some of the borough’s most disadvantaged in our community. Our students often face challenges in mainstream settings and may present with behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties. At times, they can be both challenging and unpredictable but have great potential when supported in the right way.

Responsibilities

  • Work with some of the college’s most vulnerable students and their families to support education and well-being.
  • Help students who may present with behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties, providing stable, supportive relationships.
  • Build strong relationships with a variety of professionals, agencies, children, young people, and families to coordinate support.
  • Contribute to safeguarding and welfare of children as part of the college’s mission.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Social Worker, Nurse, or Healthcare Professional with a proven track record of building relationships with professionals, agencies, children, young people, and families.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential; applications from individuals with relevant experience working with families in comparable situations are encouraged.

Safeguarding

The successful applicant will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check as part of safeguarding duties.
