Lewisham Council Pension Fund, part of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), has over 27,000 members and 40 scheme employers. We are expanding our Pensions Team following a restructure and now have exciting opportunities for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team.
We have an opportunity for a Senior Pension Officer, to work within our in house Pension Team. Your key responsibilities will include:
- To provide high level day to day administration of the Local Government Pension Scheme in accordance with LGPS Regulations. Quality checking work and dealing with complex cases.
- Interpreting complex legislation, providing technical support to the Pensions Team, employers and scheme members.
- Provide mentoring and training to other members of staff.
To be suitable for this role you need to have excellent knowledge of the LGPS and associated regulations. The successful candidate will have comprehensive experience of administering a final salary pension scheme and a CARE scheme. You will be self-motivated, possess effective communication skills, have strong numeracy skills and good attention to detail and enjoy the challenge of working on the full range of LGPS administration as well as checking all benefit calculations to ensure accuracy. You will be a strong team player and be able to mentor and motivate other team members. Above all you will be highly focused, taking responsibility for providing a high quality and efficient service. Good working knowledge of the pension administration system, Altair, would be an advantage.

We offer a hybrid working environment for our staff where you will work 3 days a week from our modern offices at Laurence House in Catford and 2 days a week from home.
