We are seeking to appoint an inspirational teacher to take on the role of Second in Charge of Science from September 2026.
About the School
Prendergast Vale School is a small all-through school providing high quality education from nursery to Year 11, which aims to transform the lives of all the children who attend the school. By keeping the school small, we have created a community of pupils and teachers where no pupil is left behind and have enabled us to create an environment in which pupils want to learn, achieve and behave well. The school benefits from being part of the Leathersellers’ Federation of Schools and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across the Trust. Being part of a successful Federation of Schools, located within easy travelling distance of each other, enables the schools to support each other and share best practice and resources. It also enables the Federation to offer staff the opportunity to develop their career as we are committed to developing and promoting from within wherever possible.
Role Overview
We are excited to appoint a Second in Charge of Science who will work in partnership with the Head of Science to raise outcomes in a team that is performing above national standards at a strong pass. You will be passionate about teaching and learning of Science, with the vision, commitment and determination to raise standards across all levels and abilities.
Responsibilities
- Working in partnership with the Head of Science to raise outcomes and provide high quality schemes of work.
- Supporting the department in a team that is performing above national outcomes.
- Mentoring and motivating staff and students.
Qualifications
- An excellent track record of raising attainment and examination results at Key Stage 4.
- Evidence of outstanding teaching across Key Stage 3 and 4.
- Proven ability and enthusiasm to motivate students and staff.
- The ability to raise expectations and aspirations of students of all abilities.
- An understanding of effective strategies for urban schools.
- A desire to share experiences and good practice with colleagues.
