We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Political Advisor to provide high-level political advice and support to the Mayor on internal and external matters. This role requires a strategic thinker with a keen understanding of political landscapes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. A detailed understanding of local government issues and Green Party policy at local/national level is essential.
Responsibilities
- Lead corporate parliamentary engagement and lobbying activities.
- Collaborate with the Communications Team on delivering a public affairs strategy.
- Research and develop speeches to enhance the Mayor's reputation.
- Provide high-level strategic advice and build strong stakeholder relationships to contribute to the overall governance and reputation of the council.

Location
The job is primarily based in Lewisham Civic Suite, Catford Road, Catford, London, SE6 4RU. A hybrid approach requires working both in the office and from home on a regular basis.
Special Conditions
Evening and some weekend working is required. Interviews are scheduled to take place week commencing 15 June 2026.
Salary
£72,075 to £76,872 per annum (SMG 2). All appointments will be offered at the minimum SCP for the grade of the role, with possible higher offers subject to evidence of matching current salary.
