You meet ISO 9000/2000 quality standards and are familiar with VOSA HGV and PSV Operator Licensing and MOT testing regulations. An HGV Licence C+E is required. You excel in communication, both orally and in writing, and have the ability to work under pressure and on your own initiative, demonstrating an energetic and innovative approach to problem-solving while considering the needs of transport user groups and service unit managers. What the job involves

The role involves performing planned maintenance and responsive repairs to all vehicles and plant in use by the London Borough of Lewisham and third-party contractors. You are responsible for ensuring that maintenance and repairs meet VOSA, Construction and Use, and HSE standards, as well as manufacturers' procedures. You will prepare HGV and PSV vehicles for annual tests and maintain accurate records on job cards and VOSA safety check sheets. This role requires collaboration with Fleet Vehicle Workshop Stores, user department drivers, supervisors, and specialist vehicle repair contractors. You will be part of a 24/7 standby rota, including emergency response to major incidents, and will attend roadside breakdowns for fault diagnosis. Additionally, you will ensure the proper use and condition of specialist tools, assist in health and safety assessments, and keep abreast of advancements in vehicle engineering. Flexibility is essential, as the post demands adapting to various tasks to support the general well-being of Fleet Services.
