We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and flexible individual to join our Endoscopy team as a Senior Staff Nurse. The unit undertakes both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. This is a rapidly expanding service with a workforce that is patient focused.
Main duties of the job: The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care with minimal to no supervision dependent on stage of development. The post holder will be required to assist in all Endoscopy procedures - ERCP, Colonoscopy, OGD and Bronchoscopy. The post holder is required to teach qualified and non-qualified staff including students following the critical care pathway. The post holder is designated to take charge of the Unit, deputising for the Band 7 Sister/Charge Nurse.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities: Provides assessment, planning, organisation and co-ordination of care to Endoscopy patients. Establishes and maintains the highest standards of organisation and care delivery. Provides leadership, support and guidance to staff in monitoring the planning, delivery and evaluation of individualised care. Provides supervision to junior staff and acts as a mentor and assessor and creates a positive learning environment for junior staff, newly appointed staff and students. Carries out audit and research to increase knowledge and assure quality of care.

- Qualifications & Training
- Essential criteria: RGN ENB Endoscopy Course or equivalent experience with portfolio evidence ENB 998 / or equivalent mentorship course
- Desirable criteria: Evidence of continuing higher education at diploma or degree level
- Essential criteria: 2 years working in an Endoscopy Unit Evidence of developing managerial skills Teaching other nurses and being an effective mentor/preceptor
- Desirable criteria: JETS Workforce Course
- Essential criteria: Proven leadership skills Effective communication skills - written and verbal Able to support patients and family Must show evidence of continuing professional development and demonstrate awareness of new issues in nursing Problem solving
