The Business Development Assistant will predominantly support the Digital, Commerce & Creative (DCC), Intellectual Property (IP), Corporate, Real Estate and Dispute Resolution teams with their plans to grow existing clients and develop new client relationships.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Events support: Work with the team to ensure we have a successful programme of events across the year. This includes management of contacts and lists of contacts on our CRM system (Microsoft Dynamics), creating and managing email campaigns, providing logistical support for online and in-person events, helping with the preparation of badges, materials, follow up, feedback and event analytics.
- Marketing communications: Assisting with marketing communications projects such as updating of brochures, team sheets, newsletters, podcast and video content, website content, email updates and industry award submissions.
- Digital: Working with our marketing team, BD teams and Knowledge Lawyers to manage web content and social posts, including proof reading content before it is uploaded and ensuring static content is regularly updated.
- Client development and new business: Work with the BD team and lawyers to help manage client development – managing our pitch database, ensuring content is kept up to date and accurate, and ensuring our pitch trackers are kept up to date.
- Maintaining CRM: Promoting the effective use of the firm’s CRM database; cleansing data for key clients and pipeline targets, setting up and managing marketing lists and events activity.
- Data and analytics: Creating reports and collating data to help the team measure and track the success of their campaigns or initiatives.
- Directory submissions: Support the team, and project manage, the compilation of directory submissions for all categories associated with the LPGs and sectors they support.
- Best practice: Work with the team to promote a best practice approach, police branding, promote the effective use of the firm’s CRM database and identify ways to improve processes to help save time, make things easier or enhance the service we deliver.
About you: You will have a professional manner, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and have previous experience working within an office. You’ll have a flexible nature and will enjoy working within a fast-paced team and will be highly organised. You’ll also possess strong numeracy and attention to detail skills, which will be key within this role. We are looking for someone who is passionate about being a team player, who is keen to support others.

- Excellent attention to detail, good organisation skills and a willingness to get stuck in.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to communicate at all levels from senior partner to junior staff.
- Proactive attitude to work; enjoys and brings a high level of commitment and enthusiasm to managing a number of projects and administrative tasks.
- Comfortable taking a brief for a project, seeking clarification where needed.
- Ability to work well in a team, with a positive and friendly attitude, helping facilitate easier working together.
- Sense of humour, drive and tenacity.
- Previous experience of working in a marketing function, preferably in a professional services environment would be advantageous.
- Flexibility to work additional or out of office hours, where business needs dictate (overtime is paid for).
- Skills in MS Office packages, MS Publisher and Adobe Suite, previous use of CRM systems such as Microsoft Dynamics and email campaign software all advantageous.
