Business Analyst – IT Development Team

Location: Manchester (Spinningfields) | Hybrid Working | Full-Time | Regional Law Firm

Our client, a well-regarded regional law firm, is looking to recruit a talented Business Analyst to join their collaborative IT Development team based in the heart of Manchester city centre. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to play a key role in the firm’s digital transformation journey.

About the Role

As a Business Analyst, you’ll serve as a crucial bridge between the IT function and the wider business, helping to shape solutions that enhance operational efficiency and user experience. You’ll work across the full software and solution delivery lifecycle, engaging with stakeholders across multiple departments.

You’ll be based at the firm’s Manchester office three days per week, with the flexibility to work remotely for two days. There may be occasional travel to offices in London and Liverpool.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product Owners, IT teams, and business stakeholders to understand and analyse existing processes, identify pain points, and define improvement opportunities.
  • Support solution design by capturing functional and non-functional requirements and mapping business processes.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Contribute to quality assurance efforts, including functional and user acceptance testing.
  • Monitor and evaluate technology experiences, suggesting improvements to systems and services.
  • Lead requirements gathering sessions, documenting business needs clearly and concisely.
  • Support change management efforts by evaluating the impact of new systems or process changes.
  • Assist in designing data models and identifying relevant data needs to support business initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

We’re keen to hear from candidates with at least one year’s experience in a Business Analyst role, ideally within a small team setting. You should be confident working with stakeholders at all levels, with a knack for building trust and influencing decisions.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Strong experience in gathering and documenting business and system requirements.
  • Proficiency in process mapping and technical writing.
  • Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Solid analytical and research capabilities.
  • Understanding of business processes in a legal or professional services environment.
  • Experience with software testing or user experience evaluation.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with Low Code / No Code tools such as Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field).
  • Industry certifications such as CCBA or CBAP.
