Love fashion, people, and making things happen? We’re looking for an energetic, creative, and commercially minded Assistant Shop Manager to join our fabulous Ashley Cross Boutique. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy retail environment, loves visual merchandising, and enjoys supporting a team to achieve great results. No two days are the same in charity retail. One day you could be creating a stunning window display, the next uncovering a hidden gem in a donation bag, supporting volunteers on the shop floor, or celebrating a record sales day. If you’re someone who rolls up their sleeves, leads by example, and enjoys working hard while having fun, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Assistant Shop Manager, you’ll work closely with the Shop Manager to help deliver a successful, well-presented, and profitable store. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the shop looks amazing, performs brilliantly, and provides an exceptional experience for every customer and donor who walks through the door. You’ll:

  • Support the Shop Manager to drive sales and maximise income for Lewis-Manning Hospice Care.
  • Help create eye-catching displays, inspiring shop layouts, and attractive window presentations.
  • Assist in leading, motivating, and supporting a fantastic team of staff and volunteers.
  • Sort, price, and merchandise donations, ensuring stock is presented to a high standard.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and build strong relationships within the local community.
  • Help maintain high standards of housekeeping, health and safety, and compliance.
  • Use your retail knowledge and commercial awareness to identify opportunities and grow sales.
  • Promote the work of Lewis-Manning Hospice Care and help make a difference in your local community.
  • Take responsibility for the shop and team in the absence of the Shop Manager.

While Ashley Cross will be your home store, there may occasionally be opportunities to support other Lewis-Manning shops during holidays, peak trading periods, or unforeseen absences.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised, and passionate about retail, with a positive attitude and a willingness to get stuck in. You’ll have:

  • Previous experience in a retail environment, ideally with supervisory, key-holder, or team leader responsibilities.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to support, motivate, and develop others.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • A good understanding of visual merchandising and retail presentation.
  • Experience working with customers and delivering outstanding service.
  • An understanding of safe working practices within a retail environment.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • An awareness of social media and its role in promoting retail activity.
  • A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

Most importantly, you’ll be passionate about delivering great retail standards, supporting your team, and helping Lewis-Manning Hospice Care raise vital funds for local hospice care.

Why Join Us?

At Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, every sale helps support local people and families living with life-limiting illnesses. You’ll be joining a friendly, supportive team where your ideas are valued, your hard work is recognised, and your contribution genuinely makes a difference. If you’re passionate about retail, love working with people, and want a role that’s rewarding, challenging, and a lot of fun, we’d love to hear from you.
