We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Trust and Estates Associate / Attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in Surrogate’s Court practice, including contested trust and estate proceedings, will construction, fiduciary removal and other litigation related to estate administration. As a key member of our firm, you will play a vital role in guiding clients through complex legal processes related to trusts, estates, and related legal disciplines. This position provides opportunities for professional growth within a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery demands and responses
- Take and defend depositions
- Conduct thorough legal research
- Appear in court for various proceedings
- Maintain meticulous records of case files, correspondence, court filings, and administrative documentation in the law office management system
Qualifications
- Member of New York State bar in good standing
- Proven experience, 3-5 years, in trusts & estates, with preferred focus in litigation; prior experience in litigation is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in legal research platforms such as Westlaw or LexisNexis; excellent research skills are essential.
- Exceptional writing skills with the ability to draft clear, precise legal documents and correspondence.
