An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Private Client Solicitor to join Lewis & Dick Limited, a well-established and highly regarded independent law firm serving the local community for many years. This is a fully office-based position, providing the opportunity to work closely with experienced colleagues while developing long-standing relationships with clients.

The successful candidate will manage their own varied private client caseload from instruction through to completion, advising individuals and families on a broad range of private client matters.

The Role

You will be responsible for handling a diverse caseload, including:

  • Drafting Wills and providing estate planning advice.
  • Preparing and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney.
  • Managing probate matters and estate administration from initial instruction through to final distribution.
  • Advising clients in relation to trust administration.
  • Assisting with tax planning and wealth preservation matters.
  • Handling Court of Protection work.
  • Advising a broad client base, including families, elderly clients and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, professional contacts and third parties.
  • Drafting legal documentation and correspondence accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal procedures.
  • Meeting billing, time recording and performance objectives.
  • Supporting colleagues and contributing positively to the continued success of the department.
  • Assisting with business development initiatives and helping to strengthen existing client relationships.
About You
  • Qualified (PQE) Solicitor with experience specialising in Private Client matters.
  • Strong technical knowledge across a broad range of private client work, including Wills, probate, estate administration, LPAs, trusts and Court of Protection matters.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and empathetic approach to client care.
  • Ability to manage an independent caseload effectively and prioritise competing demands.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of the importance of building and maintaining client relationships.
  • STEP qualification, or working towards STEP accreditation, would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • A collaborative team player who values professionalism and high standards of service delivery.
