Assurance Lead / Associate Director
Lewis Davey is recruiting an exclusive Lead/Head of Assurance role to join a leading organisation in working with their clients to reduce their environmental impact. Working across a wide range of sectors; from government to some of the largest real estate investors and leaders in industry, manufacturing and retail; our client is now looking to bring in a senior professional to continue their current momentum and develop a successful ESG assurance and verification service. This is an exciting opportunity to work with an agile, close-knit and progression company/team.
Role
The role encompasses being a technical/knowledge lead for a service that is required by new and existing clients; to create efficient, replicable products and to ensure they are marketed, sold and then delivered to a high standard.
The ESG Assurance and Verification services covered by this role include:
Delivery of large sustainability assurance and verification engagements for real estate and corporate clients.
Delivery of assurance-adjacent services, including pre-assurance / assurance readiness reviews, assurance-ready ESG reporting methodology development, sustainability strategy validation and more.
What you will need to succeed
The successful candidate will be expected to carry out normal consultancy duties, including project management/direction, client management, proposal writing and project delivery. As this role develops, line management of some members of the delivery team will be required, giving full visibility of workflow, utilisation, performance and development needs.
We are looking for someone to bring the following expertise and experience.
An in-depth technical understanding of corporate sustainability reporting and the data acquisition underpinning it, with insight into emerging trends and evolution of the reporting landscape in the UK and Europe
A specific knowledge of carbon accounting principles, frameworks and best practice as applied within the real estate investment sector
An enthusiasm for, interest in, and understanding of assurance and verification, especially as it applies to sustainability data and reporting, ideally with a proven track record
An ability to work with other members of the senior management team to strategically evolve the existing service offer, own and deliver the service plan, thinking 3 years ahead.
An existing ability to deliver assurance to different specifications and to different standards (e.g. ISO standards, ISAE 3000, etc) is preferable.

Managing large scale projects, project teams and delivering to deadlines
Complex data management and environmental reporting for real estate portfolios
Account management and new business development with clients
Delivery of assurance engagements of sustainability data

Leading, facilitating & presenting at external workshops & seminars
Leading a team
Developing a service / business plan
Knowledge and understanding

Carbon accounting principles, frameworks and best practice
Assurance tools, principles and best practice
Assurance of sustainability data
ESG reporting in the sector of commercial real estate
UK and European energy and climate change reporting frameworks
Desirable:
Key voluntary and mandatory reporting frameworks and regulations, such as GRESB, CSRD, SFDR, UK SECR, CDP, SBTI, etc.
