We're looking for a Venue Compliance Manager with a background in food safety to provide competent advice, guidance, and hands‑on support to operational teams at The Kia Oval – iconic international cricket ground and home to Surrey County Cricket Club since 1845. As Venue Compliance Manager you will enable teams to fulfil their Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) responsibilities while maintaining the highest standards of culinary compliance.
Venue Compliance Manager - The role
- Compliance & Food Safety
- Lead all aspects of food safety and allergen management across the matchday catering and event operation.
- Ensure full compliance with food safety legislation, hygiene standards, and Levy policies.
- Oversee allergen information, recipe management, and menu compliance using The Source, Safety Culture and other relevant reporting systems.
- Maintain robust controls to prevent cross‑contamination and ensure accurate labelling is implemented across the venue.
- Conduct regular audits of culinary operations, ensuring consistency and due diligence.
- Maintain accurate records of allergen data, Levy IPOE audit, and compliance documentation.
- Health, Safety & Risk Management
- Act as a champion for safety culture, driving engagement and accountability across all teams.
- Provide expert HSE advice and support to operational managers and teams.
- Lead the development, review, and implementation of risk assessments for all team members and activities.
- Conduct regular safety audits and workplace inspections, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions.
- Support incident investigations, ensuring timely resolution and preventative measures.
- Ensure all HSE documentation is compliant, up to date, and audit‑ready.
- Training, People & Standards
- Own and manage training records and compliance matrices for all team members, working alongside HODs to ensure new starter inductions are comprehensive and robust.
- Ensure all new starters complete HSE inductions and mandatory training.
- Work alongside the Regional HSE Manager to deliver training on allergen awareness, food safety, and HSE best practices as necessary.
- Support HODs and managers in maintaining high standards and understanding compliance responsibilities.
- Lead monthly and quarterly HSE meetings and business reviews, providing detailed updates to all relevant departments.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Sustainability & Stakeholder Engagement
- Support delivery of Net Zero and sustainability initiatives, including carbon labelling and responsible sourcing.
- Work closely with the Kia Oval club to align on HSE and sustainability projects.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and third parties to ensure compliance standards are met.
- Attend operational and stakeholder meetings, providing updates and driving continuous improvement.
- Support the development of sustainable menus in collaboration with the culinary team and Levy vision.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in an F&B, culinary compliance, or HSE role within a high‑volume environment.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, allergen management, and UK health & safety legislation.
- Experience leading risk assessments, audits, and maintaining compliance documentation.
- Ability to drive a positive safety culture and influence teams at all levels.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Experience managing training records and delivering staff training on compliance and HSE.
- Passion for sustainability and continuous improvement within hospitality operations.
