World Class Hospitality
National Theatre Food & Drink is a unique partnership between the National Theatre, Levy UK&I and KERB. Together we are creating a dynamic food and drink destination embedded within the heart of the NT’s operations, ensuring all public-facing venues, as well as internal hospitality and commercial events, support the NT’s overall vision, values, and culture.
Purpose
The Duty Manager is a key front of house leader in the NT Food & Drink Operations and its associated areas. This role is a floor-based role and you’ll be responsible for overseeing the delivery of operations in our Theatre Bars of Café department, and the first point of contact for Team Leaders if they need assistance, as well as the wider building operations setup. You will manage and support Team Leaders and Customer Service Advisors to provide highly visible leadership front of house, greeting and engaging with customers. You will lead, supervise, motivate and support to coordinate team members, ensuring delivery of a world class hospitality experience to all patrons of the NT.
Responsibility
- Drive World Class Hospitality at the National Theatre in an operations-based role.
- Act as a Duty Manager for the wider National Theatre Food and Drink team in day-to-day operations.
- Supporting other departments as and when is needed.
- Briefing, leading and motivating team leaders and CSAs on daily financial targets, KPI’s, service standards and The People Piece.
- In conjunction with warehouse and culinary departments ensuring that all outlets have appropriate par levels of food and drink items and are being displayed with World Class Hospitality at the front of mind.
- Ensuring that all systems, equipment are in working order and reporting known issues to senior management and following up on maintenance requests.
- In conjunction with the General & Assistant Managers ensuring that company targets and goals are communicated to the wider team and proactively driving this forward.
- Being continually aware of the customer journey, pressure points and opportunities to observe, capture and act on client and customer feedback.
- To play a leading role in the induction and ongoing development of members of the team.
- Conduct 1-2-1s with team leaders, giving feedback and delivering training and supporting development to staff.
- Adhere to all NT Food and Drink policies and procedures, including Food Safety and Health and Safety regulations, ensuring this is also followed by the teams.
- Ensure any accidents, incidents and near misses are adequately reported.
Personality
The ideal candidate would be expected to lead from the front and present on the floor with their teams, always delivering excellent guest experience.
Internal
Flexible - you will be required to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
At least 2 years’ experience of working in a similar role and ready to hit the ground running.
Personal Licence (desirable)
Previous experience of working in a high volume single or multi-venue hospitality or leisure venue.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Awareness of COSHH (Desirable)
Level 3 Food Hygiene (Desirable)
Knowledge of EPOS and procurement systems (Desirable)
