A top client of mine in the data marketing and analytics industry is looking for a very hands-on Azure Cloud Architect to lead the design and execution of complex cloud migration and infrastructure transformation projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in planning and migrating assets between cloud platforms and across tenant on the same environment, ensuring seamless integration with upstream and downstream data sources, and managing networking and access control in a multi-cloud environment. This individual will be a subject matter expert and will own the conversation at every level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cloud Migration & Infrastructure
    • Lead technical execution of Azure-first migrations, including tenant-to-tenant and cross-cloud transitions.
    • Engineer scalable and secure cloud environments, collaborating with architects and infrastructure teams.
    • Align migration activities with compliance, security, and enterprise governance policies.
  • Data & Systems Integration
    • Ensure seamless integration between cloud platforms and upstream/downstream data systems.
    • Collaborate with data engineering teams to validate data flows, ETL pipelines, and analytics tools.
    • Mitigate data integrity risks during real-time and batch migration processes.
  • Networking & Security
    • Design and oversee cloud networking: VNets, VPNs, ExpressRoute, NSGs, subnets, and firewalls.
    • Implement enterprise IAM, RBAC, and privileged access controls aligned with zero-trust principles.
    • Enforce security best practices with support from platform security teams.
  • Project & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Contribute to Agile delivery of infrastructure programs across global teams.
    • Work with stakeholders (technical & non-technical) to track risks, milestones, and progress.
    • Support technical conversations with vendors, cloud service providers, and delivery partners.

Skills & Experience Required

  • 7+ years in cloud infrastructure, engineering, or migration roles.
  • Deep technical experience with Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
  • Hands-on with cloud-to-cloud and tenant-to-tenant migrations.
  • Networking: VNets, VPCs, routing, firewalls, VPNs, interconnects.
  • Security: IAM, RBAC, SSO, MFA, Azure AD, identity federation.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates (CloudFormation a plus).
  • CI/CD and DevOps tools: Azure DevOps, GitHub, Jenkins, or similar.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in Azure (AZ-305, AZ-104), AWS (Solutions Architect, SysOps), or GCP (Associate/Professional Cloud Architect).
  • Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.
  • Knowledge of FinOps and cloud cost optimization strategies.
