Interim Cyber Security Manager – 6 Month Contract

Location: Remote / Occasional travel to London

Start: ASAP

We’re currently supporting a well-established engineering and technical services organisation operating across highly regulated and operationally critical sectors, who are looking to appoint an Interim Cyber Security Manager on an initial 6-month contract basis. This role will play a key part in maintaining and improving day-to-day cyber security operations during a wider IT and cyber transformation programme. The successful candidate will work closely with senior IT and transformation stakeholders, helping to drive operational security, remediation activity, governance and supplier oversight across a complex enterprise environment. This is a hands-on operational leadership role rather than a pure strategy or architecture position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day cyber security operations across the IT estate
  • Manage relationships with outsourced SOC / security providers
  • Support vulnerability remediation and incident response activities
  • Drive security governance, reporting, risk tracking and policy maintenance
  • Support identity and access management controls and Microsoft 365 security configuration
  • Contribute to cyber remediation workstreams and broader transformation initiatives
  • Support Cyber Essentials related activities, evidence gathering and compliance processes
  • Engage with technical teams, leadership stakeholders and external suppliers

Key Experience Required:

  • Previous experience in an Information Security Manager, Cyber Security Manager or similar operational security leadership role
  • Experience working within complex or regulated enterprise environments
  • Strong understanding of security operations, vulnerability management and incident response
  • Experience managing third-party SOC/MSSP providers
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 security technologies, including Entra ID / Azure AD, Conditional Access and Defender
  • Strong governance and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to operate independently within fast-moving transformation environments

Desirable:

  • Experience within defence, engineering, industrial, energy or critical infrastructure sectors
  • Cyber Essentials / Cyber Essentials Plus experience
  • CISSP, CISM or similar certifications
