We are supporting an International Banking client with their search for a Cyber Security Network Engineer to join a highly regulated financial services organisation in London. This is a hands‑on technical role responsible for the design, implementation and ongoing management of secure network infrastructure. The successful candidate will have a strong network engineering background combined with practical cyber security experience, with particular exposure to firewalls, WAFs, VPNs and network security controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain secure network and security infrastructure
- Configure, manage and optimise enterprise firewall technologies and security policies
- Manage firewall rule sets, access controls, NAT policies and security changes
- Support Web Application Firewall (WAF) technologies and application security controls
- Configure and support remote access VPNs and IPsec tunnels
- Design and implement secure network segmentation and security zones
- Monitor network security events and support investigation of potential security incidents
- Support vulnerability management, remediation and security hardening activities
- Assess network security risks and recommend appropriate technical controls
- Plan and implement network security changes, including testing and rollback procedures
- Work closely with IT, infrastructure and security teams on technical projects and security improvements
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams and security procedures
Experience Required
- 5+ years' experience within Network Engineering, with a strong focus on Cyber Security
- Strong hands‑on experience managing enterprise firewalls
- Experience with Cisco Firepower / FTD or comparable next‑generation firewall technologies
- Good understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF and EIGRP
- Hands‑on experience with VPNs, IPsec and secure remote access technologies
- Experience with network segmentation and secure network design
- Exposure to WAF technologies, ideally F5 Advanced WAF / ASM
- Experience with load balancing or application delivery technologies such as F5 or Citrix NetScaler
- Understanding of vulnerability management and security remediation
- Exposure to SIEM and network security monitoring technologies
- Strong understanding of IDS/IPS and network threat prevention controls
- Experience working within a regulated or complex enterprise environment would be advantageous
