We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Intelligence Specialist with a strong focus on SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust and user-friendly reports and dashboards that provide our business stakeholders with the information they need to make data-driven decisions. You will work closely with various departments to gather requirements, analyze data, and create reporting solutions that drive business efficiency and growth. This includes selecting, blueprinting, gathering requirements, designing, and rolling out SSRS and BI solutions to end users.
Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues.
Lead design sessions in prototyping new analytics for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow.
Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
Identify and establish scope and parameters of systems analysis in order to define outcome criteria and measure-taking actions.
Collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications.
Conduct research on software products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for report development in conjunction with end users, managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
Operational Management
Design, code, test, and document all new or modified analytical systems, applications, and programs.
Design, develop, and deploy complex reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), including parameterized reports, drill-down, drill-through, and sub-reports.
Develop the semantic layer, metadata, reports, and report definitions.
Develop graphs and portal interfaces.
Create and maintain technical documentation for all developed reports and BI solutions, including data sources, report layouts, and business logic.
Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in operating systems across the organization.
Ensure accuracy of reporting data utilizing multiple means of validation and verification
Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
Ensure compatibility and interoperability of all company reporting systems.
Create systems models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programmers.
Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems, reports, and other post-implementation support.
Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.
Provide guidance and/or instruction to junior staff members.
Knowledge & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Proven in-depth experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of business analytics utilizing SQL server reporting services and Power BI
Extensive experience in database design and optimization with SQL server 2019/2022, Azure SQL, and various versions of Rocket DB
Proficient with Microsoft Reporting Services and Business Intelligence Studio, implementing SSIS packages, stored procedures, and DTS packages
Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views to extract data from various sources, primarily Microsoft SQL Server databases.
Practical knowledge in ETL/ELT processes for use in system integrations and data manipulation for reporting, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts.
Create visually appealing and intuitive reports, dashboards, and data visualizations that effectively communicate key business metrics and trends.
Extensive experience with data mining and Business Intelligence reporting
Understanding of RESTful APIs, how to interact with them
Proficient use of Git for collaborative development.?
Working technical knowledge of .net (VB & C#), Python, Node.js, Java, and HTML programming languages
DevOps Experience is required
Comprehensive data warehouse analysis and design experience, with full knowledge of data warehouse methodologies and data modeling.
Strong ability to analyze user requirements and build front-end BI applications according to specifications.
Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
Full project management and development life cycle experience.
Experience with data processing flowcharting techniques.
Knowledge of SSAS for creating and managing OLAP cubes is a plus.
