We’re partnering with a growing, complex professional services organisation to hire a Data Governance Manager. This is a key role focused on embedding practical, business-aligned data governance in an environment where influence, relationships, and pragmatism are critical to success. This is not a “theoretical” governance role — we’re looking for someone who can roll up their sleeves and make governance work in practice.

The Role

  • You’ll take ownership of driving and embedding data governance across the business, working closely with senior stakeholders in a highly autonomous environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Establishing data ownership and stewardship models across core domains (e.g. client, finance, people, supply chain)
  • Driving data quality accountability, including defining and measuring what “good” looks like
  • Mapping and improving data flows and lineage across systems and processes
  • Leading an existing Data Governance Council and progressing key organisational priorities
  • Embedding governance processes that balance control with business empowerment
  • Building strong relationships to influence and drive adoption across the organisation

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven hands-on data governance experience (not just frameworks or theory)
  • Ability to operate at both a strategic and tactical level
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, particularly with senior leaders
  • Experience working in complex or less mature environments, where pragmatism is key
  • Understanding of data quality, ownership models, and data lineage
  • Ability to drive change through relationships, not just authority or tools

Desirable Experience

  • Background in regulated environments (e.g. financial services, legal, professional services)
  • Knowledge of GDPR and data protection principles
  • Experience working with or alongside Data Protection / Security functions
  • Previous line management experience (small teams)

What You’ll Be Doing in the First 6–12 Months

  • Establish clear data ownership across the business
  • Implement integrated governance processes
  • Build trusted relationships with key stakeholders
  • Increase organisational confidence in data governance

Why Apply?

  • Opportunity to shape and embed governance in a real-world, pragmatic way
  • High visibility role with senior stakeholder engagement
  • Existing governance foundations in place — your focus is on execution and impact
  • Join a business where influence and relationships truly matter

If you’re someone who can bridge strategy and delivery, and thrive in environments where success comes from influence rather than authority, we’d love to hear from you.
