We are now looking for an experienced
Senior SHEQ Advisor to play a key role in driving Safety, Health, Environment, Quality (SHEQ) excellence across our three manufacturing sites in Basingstoke.
This is a hands-on position offering significant responsibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to influence business performance, operational excellence, and future growth.
About the Role
As Senior SHEQ Advisor, you will be a key member of the SHEQ team, providing leadership, assurance, and expert guidance across the business.
Working closely with operational and leadership teams, you will help ensure our management systems remain effective, compliant, and continuously improving.
You'll have the opportunity to support major projects, contribute to site development and new plant commissioning, and help shape a positive SHEQ culture across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- SHEQ Systems & Assurance
- Manage and develop elements of the Integrated Management System aligned to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Lead internal audits and support external certification audits.
- Drive continual improvement initiatives and system enhancements.
- Provide expert SHEQ guidance across multiple departments.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
- Lead and review risk assessments, environmental aspects and SHEQ registers.
- Support and conduct incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Monitor changes in legislation and standards and advise the business accordingly.
- Performance & Reporting
- Analyse SHEQ performance data and identify improvement opportunities.
- Produce meaningful reports and insights for management teams.
- Support management reviews and action planning.
- Training & Engagement
- Deliver SHEQ training, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions.
- Support competency development and training programmes.
- Promote a proactive SHEQ culture through visible leadership and constructive engagement.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, Laboratory, Warehouse, Procurement, and Commercial teams.
- Support process changes, capital projects, and new plant commissioning activities.
- Provide practical, risk-based advice that supports operational objectives.
About You
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical SHEQ expertise with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
Essential
- Proven SHEQ experience within a manufacturing, process, or industrial environment.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Internal Auditor qualification and audit experience.
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) or significant progress towards achieving it.
- Experience leading SHEQ activities and delivering measurable outcomes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A pragmatic, commercially aware approach to risk management and compliance.
Desirable
- Chemical manufacturing industry experience.
- Experience supporting certification audits or management system development.
- PIEMA or equivalent environmental qualification.
- Exposure to sustainability initiatives or energy management systems.
- Experience mentoring or coaching colleagues.
