The Senior Banker will cover sponsor clients across private equity, infrastructure, real estate, credit, and secondaries strategies, with a strong focus on leading global multi-strategy asset managers. The role will focus on sponsor activity across the UK, Nordics, Benelux, and DACH regions, working closely with colleagues across EMEA, North America, and APAC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage relationships with financial sponsor clients and originate transactions across a broad range of Investment Banking and Global Markets products, with a particular focus on infrastructure finance, fund finance, leveraged finance, real estate finance, hedging solutions, and related products.
  • Grow existing relationships and establish new client connections across investment, capital markets, fund finance, and senior management teams, creating strong senior-level engagement and institutionalising relationships.
  • Drive origination efforts by developing relevant market content, product solutions, and investment opportunities in partnership with internal product and sector specialists, as well as external advisory partners where appropriate.
  • Engage clients proactively on transaction opportunities well in advance of formal processes by delivering insightful market intelligence and strategic content, positioning the platform for high-quality mandates and commercial outcomes.
  • Lead client engagement efforts by coordinating expertise across product, sector, and advisory teams, supporting pipeline development, and consolidating market intelligence on anticipated transactions.
  • Maintain a strong origination mindset by providing market insights, helping position the business on transactions, and supporting the negotiation of favourable commercial outcomes.
  • Take a solution-oriented approach to business development, both externally with clients and internally across stakeholder groups.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, demonstrating a strong understanding of both client organisations and internal capabilities to effectively navigate and connect stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of sponsor behaviour throughout the investment lifecycle, from acquisition and financing through to portfolio management and eventual exit events.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior team members.

Candidate Requirements

  • 12–18 years of Investment Banking experience. Typically operating at Director level, or recently promoted Managing Director (less than 3 years at MD level). Candidates who have spent significant time in broad "Head of" leadership positions are less likely to be suitable.
  • Must be hands-on, entrepreneurial, resilient, and motivated to build business directly rather than primarily managing others.

Background

  • Strong track record in client coverage and relationship management, with demonstrated origination success.
  • Experience in sponsor coverage, leveraged finance, infrastructure finance, infrastructure sector coverage, or corporate business development/strategy roles combined with prior Investment Banking experience.
  • Experience working with and covering global multi-strategy financial sponsors.
  • Proven ability to originate business, develop client relationships, and generate revenue growth.

Technical Knowledge

  • Broad understanding of Investment Banking products, particularly financing solutions.
  • Experience negotiating commercial terms across financing transactions.
  • Product expertise is not essential, but candidates should be commercially minded and capable of identifying and delivering cross-product opportunities.

Preferred Backgrounds

  • Sponsor Coverage
  • Leveraged Finance
  • Infrastructure Finance (rather than pure project finance backgrounds)
  • Infrastructure Coverage
  • Corporate Strategy or Business Development professionals with previous Investment Banking experience
