The Audit Manager will lead comprehensive assessments of risk controls across Global Markets, evaluating coverage, consistency, and effective functioning of control frameworks. This role ensures adherence to applicable professional standards, regulations, and jurisdictional practices, and drives alignment with the bank’s risk governance objectives.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure all activities comply with the FCA Principles for Business and the regulatory requirements of the bank’s EMEA and global markets footprint, as well as applicable regulator expectations across jurisdictions.
- Conduct strategic, risk-based assessments of systems and controls across Wholesale Banking and Global Markets to address risks within the global markets platform.
- Plan and execute allocated audits, delivering high-quality findings and actionable recommendations to strengthen controls and governance, drive efficiency, and coordinate audit assignments. Lead audit teams during execution where required.
- Design and perform tests of mitigating controls to assess risk management effectiveness and operational resilience.
- Produce robust audit reports, scoping documents, and audit programs; prepare and review working papers, audit files, reports, and dashboards in alignment with Group Internal Audit policies.
- Track and follow up on audit recommendations, maintaining strong business partnerships throughout the lifecycle of open actions.
- Maintain ongoing risk identification and monitoring across allocated audit units; elevate emerging risks or issues to the Head of Audit as appropriate.
- Manage ad hoc and emergency assignments as needed.
- Support Internal Audit leadership in developing and sustaining auditee relationships across the global markets footprint.
This role is based in London with audit activities across London, Milan, Madrid, Frankfurt, Luxembourg, with potential ad hoc opportunities in Paris or other hubs.
Key Skills & Experience:
- In-depth knowledge of Corporate and Investment Banking activities with a focus on risk management across global markets.
- Prior auditing experience in Global Markets (Sales, Trading, Operations) is highly desirable.
- Professional qualifications such as CIA, CAMS, ACA, or ACCA are preferred.
- Practical understanding of regulatory expectations and rules across EU, UK, and other global jurisdictions.
- Multilingual abilities beyond English are advantageous (e.g., Italian, Spanish, German).
- Data analytics proficiency is a plus.
- Demonstrated agility, analytical mindset, and proven problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong planning, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Proactive, collaborative, and team-oriented mindset.
- Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
