About The Role
We are looking for a bioanalytical chemist to join us on a 6 month fix contract. The ideal candidate is expected to be proficient in inorganic and analytical chemistry techniques. Moreover, they should have sound knowledge and experience in working with analytical instruments, specifically a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The candidate needs to have experience in working with clinical samples and a strong background in biological science. Experience working with lipids, steroid hormones, or steroid-like molecules will be required for this role.
This is a full-time, in-person role based in London, with flexibility for short-term remote work.
Responsibilities
- Carry out sample preparation extractions and carry out LC-MS analyses for clinical samples
- Help optimise and validate protocols for high-throughput identification of hormone molecules in clinical samples
- Help maintain and calibrate the analytical instruments
- Support the installation/maintenance, attend training, and manage the consumables related to the instruments
- Draft SOP and reports for the analysis of hormone molecules in clinical samples
- Work and communicate with the biosensor R&D team for sensing optimisations
What You Bring
- A master\’s or Ph.D. degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry or related disciplines with a background in biological science and statistics. Postdoctoral experience (university or industrial) will be a plus for this position. Right to work in the UK
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency in analytical chemistry techniques, including mass spectrometry, LC-MS/MS and others
- Experience and deep understanding in sample extraction/separation in clinical samples
- Experience working with lipids, steroid hormones or steroid-like molecules using mass spectrometry
- Expertise in analytical protocol development and analysis
Nice to have
- Knowledge of ICP-MS
- Knowledge in the characterisation of different human fluids
