As the Industrial Relations Specialist, you will play a key role in fostering positive relationships between the Company and its employees while ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining a harmonious and productive work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with HR to develop and implement employee relations policies and procedures that align with company objectives and legal requirements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance management, and policy interpretation.
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on employee relations issues in partnership with HR.
- Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints and grievances, recommending appropriate resolutions.
- Prepare cases and represent the Company in disciplinary proceedings, as well as in matters before the CCMA, Bargaining Council, and Labour Court.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws and regulations.
- Manage negotiations with labor unions and participate in collective bargaining processes.
- Monitor employee satisfaction levels and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and deliver training programs for managers and employees on employee relations topics.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in employee relations, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to employee relations activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor\’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within the manufacturing or construction industry.
- Extensive experience representing the Company in internal disciplinary proceedings and CCMA cases.
- Experience working with Bargaining Councils and labor unions is highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in written and spoken Xhosa is essential.
- Strong knowledge of labor laws and regulations.
