As the Industrial Relations Specialist, you will play a key role in fostering positive relationships between the Company and its employees while ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining a harmonious and productive work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with HR to develop and implement employee relations policies and procedures that align with company objectives and legal requirements.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance management, and policy interpretation.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on employee relations issues in partnership with HR.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints and grievances, recommending appropriate resolutions.
  • Prepare cases and represent the Company in disciplinary proceedings, as well as in matters before the CCMA, Bargaining Council, and Labour Court.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws and regulations.
  • Manage negotiations with labor unions and participate in collective bargaining processes.
  • Monitor employee satisfaction levels and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for managers and employees on employee relations topics.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in employee relations, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to employee relations activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor\’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within the manufacturing or construction industry.
  • Extensive experience representing the Company in internal disciplinary proceedings and CCMA cases.
  • Experience working with Bargaining Councils and labor unions is highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken Xhosa is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws and regulations.

  • Proven ability to resolve conflicts and solve problems effectively.
  • High level of discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
