An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal CDM Consultant to join a leading multidisciplinary consultancy with an established reputation for delivering high-quality Health & Safety and CDM services across the built environment.

Based in London, you'll work on a diverse portfolio of prestigious projects, partnering with clients across the real estate and construction sectors to deliver expert CDM consultancy, Principal Designer services and strategic Health & Safety advice.

This role is ideal for an experienced consultant looking to take ownership of projects, build lasting client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of a highly respected consultancy.

The Role

As a Principal CDM Consultant, you'll provide expert guidance throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations while delivering practical, commercially focused advice.

Working closely with clients, design teams and contractors, you'll help drive best practice in Health & Safety, manage project commissions and support the successful delivery of a wide range of developments.

Key Responsibilities of Principal CDM Consultant

  • Deliver CDM and Health & Safety consultancy services across multiple projects.
  • Undertake the Principal Designer role in accordance with the CDM Regulations.
  • Advise clients on their statutory responsibilities and Health & Safety obligations.
  • Develop and improve CDM and Health & Safety processes and procedures.
  • Prepare and review Pre-Construction Information and Health & Safety Files.
  • Carry out Health & Safety audits, inspections and performance reviews.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Manage multiple commissions to ensure quality, programme and commercial objectives are achieved.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional client service.
  • Support business development by identifying opportunities to strengthen existing client relationships.

About You

You’ll be an experienced CDM professional with strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and project teams.

Essential Requirements

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent qualification).
  • Grad IOSH or equivalent professional membership.
  • Membership of the Association for Project Safety (APS).
  • Proven experience acting as a Principal Designer.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
  • Strong construction industry experience across a range of project types.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise workloads effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Experience working across a variety of industry sectors.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to develop and maintain long-term client relationships.
