We’re looking for anexperienced and driven Remortgage Manager to lead our growing RemortgageDepartment at Sort Legal .

This is a fantasticopportunity for an experienced conveyancing leader to take ownership of ahigh-performing remortgage function within one of the UK's most innovativeconveyancing businesses. Working closely with the Head of Legal Practice,you'll be responsible for leading the department, driving operationalperformance, developing your people, and ensuring exceptional service deliveryfor clients, introducers, and lenders.

You'll combine strongtechnical conveyancing expertise with proven leadership skills to create ahigh-performing culture focused on quality, compliance, efficiency, andcontinuous improvement.

What you’ll bedoing:

• Leading the day-to-day operations of theRemortgage Department, ensuring productivity, quality and service levelsare consistently achieved
• Managing, coaching and developing a teamof Remortgage Case Handlers, Paralegals and Assistants
• Monitoring departmental performance,capacity and workloads to ensure Service Level Agreements are achieved
• Conducting regular one-to-ones,performance reviews and Personal Development Plans
• Supporting recruitment, onboarding andsuccession planning across the department
• Providing technical guidance on complexconveyancing matters and acting as the escalation point for legal andoperational queries
• Conducting file audits to ensure legalcompetency, quality and regulatory compliance
• Monitoring departmental ManagementInformation (MI), identifying trends and implementing improvements tomaximise productivity and efficiency
• Producing operational reports andperformance updates for the Head of Legal Practice
• Managing holiday planning, absencemanagement and departmental resource allocation
• Acting as the primary escalation point forclient and introducer complaints, ensuring timely and effective resolution
• Working closely with HR on performancemanagement, disciplinary and grievance matters
• Supporting operational projects, processimprovements and wider business initiatives
• Maintaining strong relationships withlenders, introducers and internal stakeholders
• Ensuring compliance with lenderrequirements, CLC/SRA regulations, AML legislation, Cyber Securityobligations and Data Protection requirements

Requirements

What we’re lookingfor:

• A minimum of 5 years' conveyancingexperience , with significant exposure to remortgage transactions
• Previous experience leading or managing aconveyancing team within a high-volume environment
• Strong technical knowledge acrossfreehold, leasehold and unregistered remortgage matters, includingTransfers of Equity and transactions subject to existing mortgages
• Ability to support and mentor colleagueson complex legal matters
• Excellent leadership, coaching and peoplemanagement skills
• Proven experience of improving operationalperformance through effective management and continuous improvement
• Experience analysing ManagementInformation (MI) to drive business performance
• Strong organisational skills with theability to manage workloads, resources and competing priorities
• Experience conducting file audits andmonitoring legal competency
• Excellent communication and stakeholdermanagement skills
• Confident handling client and introducercomplaints as an escalation point
• Strong IT skills, including previousexperience using Case Management Systems
• Thorough understanding of the CLC Code ofConduct, SRA regulations, HM Land Registry requirements, AML legislation,Cyber Security and Data Protection
• Licensed Conveyancer or Solicitor statuswould be advantageous, although not essential for candidates with therelevant experience
  

Where you’ll be:

This role can be basedfrom either our Derby or South Shields office, working closelywith the Head of Legal Practice and leading a growing Remortgage Departmentwithin one of the UK's most progressive conveyancing businesses.

Hybrid workingopportunities may be available depending on business requirements.

Up to £60,000 , depending on experience
