The role involves building and owning the backend systems that Letly runs on — the software behind every viewing, tenancy, certificate, rent payment, and repair. These systems require correctness, reliability, and scale as they handle real people's money, homes, and legal exposure.
This position is open at every level, from junior to staff, based on the scope of responsibility rather than years of experience. Junior engineers will ship features within services owned by others, with mentoring and production responsibility from the first month. Mid-level engineers will own features and services end-to-end. Senior engineers will make architectural decisions and set patterns for others. Staff engineers will direct the technical direction of a domain, deciding what gets built and how, unblocking other engineers, and ensuring system performance under load.
What you'll work on includes:
- Money movement: Rent, deposits, and payouts through pooled client-money accounts, focusing on idempotent processing and split-settlement.
- Reconciliation & bookings: A penny-accurate, self-healing ledger reconciling bank activity across thousands of tenancies.
- Event-driven consistency: Services coordinating over Pub/Sub, managing sagas across offer contract tenancy payments without relying on distributed transactions.
- AI harnesses in production: Deploying agentic AI into operational settings with necessary guardrails, observability, and correctness.
Our stack includes NestJS + TypeScript on GCP / GKE, with MongoDB, Redis, and GCP Pub/Sub. While fluency in these technologies is not required, we seek strong backend engineers experienced in building production systems with any robust framework such as Java/Spring Boot, Go, Kotlin, C#/.NET, Python (Django/FastAPI), or Ruby on Rails.
