This role is designed as a supported development pathway into a future Registered Manager position within our service for a Children’s Home. The purpose of this role is to work under the guidance of an experienced Registered Manager while gradually taking on responsibility for the overall leadership and management of a care service. This includes supporting safe, person‑centred care, ensuring regulatory and safeguarding requirements are met, and helping to maintain high standards of quality and compliance across the service.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Supporting the day‑to‑day running of the service, including rota planning, shift cover and coordination of care delivery.
  • Contributing to staff management activities such as recruitment, induction, supervision, appraisal and ongoing development of team members.
  • Supporting effective care planning and review processes, ensuring that people using the service receive personalized, outcomes‑focused support.
  • Assisting with audits, quality monitoring and improvement actions in line with regulatory standards and organisational policies.
  • Building positive relationships with people using the service, their families, colleagues and external professionals, and representing the service in a professional manner.

The person specification describes someone with experience in health or social care, strong values around dignity, respect, rights and inclusion, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for people who use services. It also highlights the need for good communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team, emerging leadership skills, and the willingness to learn about relevant legislation, guidance and regulatory frameworks such as those set by the Care Quality Commission (or equivalent).

This trainee role is particularly suitable for someone who is ready to move towards a Registered Manager position in a Children’s Home, but would benefit from a structured development route rather than stepping straight into full registration. The role offers planned training, mentoring, reflective supervision and exposure to all aspects of service management so that, over time, the post‑holder can develop the confidence and competence needed to apply for a Registered Manager role.

If you are interested in this opportunity, would like more detailed information, or know someone in your network who might be a good fit, please reply to this email. I would be very happy to discuss the role further or arrange an informal conversation.
