Our Business Development & Marketing Director joined in 2025 and is working with the Senior Leadership Team to deliver an ambitious growth strategy focused on our key sectors and markets.
As part of this journey, we are looking for a talented Bid & Proposal Writer to support the firm's growth by producing compelling, client-focused submissions that help us win and retain high-quality work.
Location
This role can be based from either our Bournemouth or Southampton office, with flexible hybrid working arrangements available.
Role Overview
The Bid & Proposal Writer will work closely with partners, fee earners and the Business Development & Marketing team to create high-quality proposals, tenders, credentials and pitch materials across the firm's practice areas and sectors.
This role is ideal for a strong writer and communicator who enjoys translating complex information into persuasive and engaging content, whilst managing multiple deadlines and maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Bid & Proposal Development
- Produce compelling and professionally written proposals, tenders, credentials and pitch documents that clearly articulate Lester Aldridge's expertise and value proposition.
- Tailor content to meet individual client requirements, ensuring submissions are relevant, engaging and client-focused.
- Coordinate the production of bid responses, working with subject matter experts across the firm to gather information and draft responses.
- Manage multiple concurrent submissions and deliver high-quality outputs to deadline.
- Proofread and edit content to ensure consistency, accuracy and adherence to brand standards.
Content & Knowledge Management
- Develop and maintain a library of proposal content, credentials, case studies, CVs and supporting materials.
- Work with partners and fee earners to identify new matter highlights, client success stories and sector expertise that can strengthen future submissions.
- Ensure proposal materials remain current, accurate and aligned with the firm's strategic priorities.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Build strong working relationships with partners, fee earners and business services colleagues.
- Support bid kick-off meetings and gather information required to develop winning submissions.
- Assist with post-submission reviews and capture feedback to support continuous improvement.
Market & Client Research
- Undertake research into prospective clients, sectors and competitors to support proposal development.
- Use available tools, including LinkedIn and AI-assisted research platforms, to identify relevant insights and opportunities.
- Support the development of tailored client messaging and positioning.
Marketing & Business Development Support
- Assist with the creation of client-facing content for campaigns, events and thought leadership initiatives where required.
- Provide writing and editorial support for key marketing and business development projects.
Key Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience producing proposals, bids, tenders or pitch documents within a law firm, professional services or comparable environment.
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong organisational and project coordination skills.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Confident communicating with a range of audiences.
Desirable
- Experience within the legal or wider professional services sector.
- Familiarity with procurement exercises, panel appointments and tender processes.
- Experience using LinkedIn, AI tools and online research platforms.
- Advanced Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills.
- Experience working with CRM systems.
- Knowledge of one or more of Lester Aldridge's key sectors, including healthcare, shipping, housebuilding or private wealth.
