We’re looking for a compassionate, organised, and proactive Paralegal to join our Court of Protection team in London. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your legal career within a highly regarded team that supports vulnerable clients and their families. Working alongside experienced Partners and fee earners, you’ll gain hands‑on experience across a broad range of Court of Protection matters while making a real difference to clients' lives.
About the Role
As a Paralegal, you’ll provide vital support to the Court of Protection team, assisting with the day‑to‑day management of client matters, financial administration, and legal documentation. You’ll work closely with clients, families, the Office of the Public Guardian, and other professionals, helping to ensure matters progress efficiently while delivering an outstanding client experience.
Responsibilities
- Supporting Partners and fee earners with a varied caseload of Court of Protection matters.
- Opening new client files and ensuring all client onboarding and compliance requirements are completed.
- Drafting correspondence, legal documents, and client communications using firm templates.
- Maintaining accurate electronic and paper files in line with firm procedures.
- Liaising with clients, families, professionals, and third parties to provide updates and progress matters.
- Managing incoming calls, emails, and correspondence, ensuring queries are dealt with promptly.
- Assisting with financial administration, including maintaining client account records and supporting compliance with SRA Accounts Rules.
- Preparing annual reports for the Office of the Public Guardian and responding to enquiries.
- Supporting the day‑to‑day management of clients' financial affairs, including monitoring bank accounts and processing payments.
- Monitoring deadlines, diary commitments, and compliance requirements to ensure matters progress efficiently.
- Assisting with billing, time recording, and file management processes.
- Supporting business development activities and helping to build strong relationships with clients and referrers.
- Promoting the firm's core values of clients, people, teamwork, and progressiveness.
Requirements
- A genuine interest in Court of Protection work and supporting vulnerable clients.
- Previous legal experience is desirable, ideally within Court of Protection, Private Client, or a similar area.
- LPC, Law Degree, CILEX, or equivalent qualification (desirable).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
- Excellent client care skills with empathy, professionalism, and discretion.
- A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and legal case management systems.
- A willingness to learn, develop, and take ownership of your work.
