Les Petites Etoiles Bilingual Montessori are a group of five private bilingual nurseries across North London, dedicated to providing exceptional childcare services in a microscopic enrichment environment. We are looking to hire an experienced nursery cook to work across all five locations, based primarily in Tufnell Park. The role is full‑time permanent, half time in the kitchen and half time in the classroom.

Salary: £26,000 per annum

Hours: 38 per week

Holiday: 7 weeks paid holiday

Job Role

  • As a Cook: responsible for day‑to‑day running of the kitchen, preparing an entirely organic set menu (morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack) to the school’s plan, and maintaining stringent hygiene standards.
  • As a Classroom Assistant: support room leaders and teams in rooms for ages 6 months to 4 years, supervise daily activities and organise activities and materials.

Qualifications

  • Experience preparing food for large numbers of children or adults.
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate or above.
  • Food Allergen Awareness.
  • At least one year of childcare experience.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and safeguarding practices.

Responsibilities (Nursery Cook)

  • Maintain high hygiene standards following Food Standard Agency/Environmental Health guidelines.
  • Prepare balanced rotating menu considering children’s dietary and cultural requirements.
  • Maintain necessary kitchen procedures and records.
  • Ensure all crockery, cutlery and utensils are washed following food safety guidelines.
  • Serve food at specified times and correctly.
