Les Petites Etoiles – Bilingual Montessori – Tufnell Park Nursery Manager – Full‑time (38 h/week), Permanent contract. Salary starting at £44,000 per year. 7 weeks paid holiday (plus up to 5 additional days on anniversaries). Includes paid sick days, Christmas bonus, cycle‑to‑work scheme, and a Training & Development Programme.

The nursery provides high‑quality bilingual care and education for children aged 8 months to 4 years. As Nursery Manager you will lead the team, oversee health‑and‑safety and EYFS compliance, manage parent relationships, and execute the blended Montessori‑EYFS curriculum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Overall leadership of the nursery, including daily operations, staff management, and communication with parents.
  • Ensure health‑and‑safety and EYFS welfare requirements are met and that the nursery complies with OFSTED and other statutory regulations.
  • Maintain high teacher‑to‑child ratios and support the blended curriculum in English, French, and introductory Mandarin.
  • Supervise, coach and appraise staff; conduct regular supervision sessions and twice‑yearly appraisals.
  • Plan and deliver parent communication – tours, newsletters, and routine updates; respond to queries and resolve issues.
  • Preserve accurate records – attendance, accidents, medicine, finances, and statutory documentation.
  • Lead safeguarding: enforce the two‑person rule, supervise risk assessments, compile developmental reports, and coordinate half‑yearly parent meetings.
  • Drive continuous improvement by developing action plans, monitoring occupancy targets, and managing day‑to‑day administrative tasks.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum Level 3 childcare qualification. Preferred: Level 5 or Level 6 (BA in Early Years), EYTS/EYPS.
  • At least 1 year as a Nursery Manager or 3 years as a Deputy Manager in an early‑years setting.
  • Clear DBS check (or DBS equivalent) required.

  • Excellent communication skills – written and spoken English.
  • Team‑orientation, collaborative mindset, and capacity to reflect and improve.
  • Effective partnership with parents and staff.
  • Competence in basic IT (Word, Excel).
