We’re looking for a proactive and detail‑oriented Accounts Assistant to join our UK Finance team. Reporting to the Head of Finance – UK, this role provides broad exposure across the accounting function and is ideal for someone early in their finance career who is keen to build strong foundations while continuing their studies.
The Accounts Assistant supports day‑to‑day finance operations, month‑end close, reporting, and audit activity, while also contributing to process improvement initiatives that help the business operate more efficiently. It’s a varied, hands‑on role in a fast‑paced, purpose‑driven environment. This role includes financial support to complete accounting studies (ACCA / CIMA / ACA / AAT).
Key Responsibilities- Accounts Receivable & Bank Reconciliations
- Perform daily bank reconciliations for customer receipts and vendor payments
- Reconcile web sales accounts to ensure accurate transaction matching
- Monitor accounts receivable and raise potential bad debt risks
- Accounts Payable & Expenses
- Process employee expenses and company credit card transactions
- Respond to employee questions related to expenses and payments
- Support vendor communication and payment tracking
- Month‑End Close Support
- Assist with month‑end processes, including prepayments and intercompany recharges
- Prepare and reconcile deferred income releases
- Reconcile intercompany balances and suspense accounts
- Prepare VAT and withholding tax reconciliations and payment schedules for review
- Weekly Reporting
- Prepare weekly sales reporting for licence billing, training, and music revenue
- Investigate movements and variances
- Deliver reports to the Senior Leadership Team
- Audit, Tax & Process Improvement
- Support internal and external audits through data collection and reconciliations
- Assist with Corporation Tax and VAT‑related tasks
- Identify and contribute to continual improvement opportunities across finance processes
- Minimum 1 year’s experience in a finance or accounts role
- Part‑qualified ACCA / ACA / CIMA or AAT qualified (or studying toward qualification)
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, large data sets)
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar ERP systems
- Experience with Salesforce, Adobe Commerce (Magento), or online payment platforms (e.g., PayPal, Klarna, Braintree) is advantageous
- High attention to detail with strong organisational skills
- Clear and confident communicator who enjoys working across teams
