At Lufa Farms, we’re on a mission to build a better food system by growing food where people live and growing it responsibly. This led us to build the world’s first commercial rooftop greenhouse in 2011 and the world’s largest less than a decade later. With exciting new projects on the horizon and a motivated team, we’re looking for a Project Management Director to lead a team of project managers, maintenance managers and technicians. Working directly under the CEO of Lufa Farms, the Project Management Director is responsible for all projects, from the construction of future rooftop greenhouses to the improvement of our current spaces and the repair and maintenance of existing assets. This role is closely related to the company’s operation and will be the go-to person for unusual challenges requiring unique solutions. This position is highly dynamic and requires someone able to problem solve on the fly, and prototype and implement solutions with a fast turnaround.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all construction, maintenance, and facility improvement projects across Lufa Farms;
  • Manage and mentor a team of project managers, maintenance managers, and technicians;
  • Plan and oversee capital projects, budgets, timelines, and resource allocation;
  • Coordinate contractors, engineers, architects, and external vendors;
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, by-laws, and safety regulations;
  • Review and negotiate contracts, leases, and project agreements;
  • Optimize facility layout, infrastructure, and space utilization to support operations;
  • Solve complex infrastructure and operational challenges with practical solutions;
  • Implement preventive maintenance and asset management systems.

Requirements:

  • Approaches problems scientifically and comfortable applying first principle thinking;
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of building by-laws and applicable regulations;
  • Collaborate with multiple vendors such as general contractors, MEP consultants, maintenance consultants, architects and engineers;
  • Strong leadership and team management skills (10+ people);
  • Able to create and follow annual and project budgets;
  • Excellent negotiation skills;
  • Able to read and comment on legal documents like lease agreements, contracts, etc.;
  • Strong knowledge of project planning and space organization to optimize business needs;
  • Excellent project management skills;
  • Detail oriented with great organizational skills;
  • Able to manage multiple projects at the same time;
  • Able to face stressful situations calmly;
  • Knowledge of Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Calendars);
  • Diploma in architecture, engineering, construction, or any other related field.

Assets:

  • Previous experience in business development;
  • Previous experience in construction projects;
  • University degree;
  • Experience in food or agriculture industry;
  • Background in architecture, engineering, or related experience.

Schedule:

  • 40 hours per week;
  • Willingness to work outside regular hours when necessary to advance or complete a project.

  • Salary is to be determined based on the experience and knowledge of the candidate;
