Lepus Consulting is a specialist environmental planning consultancy helping public sector organisations plan for growth, nature recovery and environmental stewardship throughout the UK. We support the preparation of Local Plans and planning policy through Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA), Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), Sustainability Appraisal (SA), landscape assessment, green infrastructure planning and biodiversity advice. As demand for our services continues to grow, we are seeking an environmental professional to help deliver Local Plan evidence, environmental assessment and nature recovery projects for local authority clients across England.
This is an opportunity to work on a wide range of environmental planning projects for local authorities and other public sector organisations. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of evidence base studies, environmental assessments and planning policy projects, helping clients navigate complex environmental and planning challenges. Depending on your experience and interests, projects may include HRA, SEA, SA, ecology, landscape, green infrastructure or wider environmental planning work. You will work closely with clients, contribute to project delivery, prepare technical reports and collaborate with colleagues across the business. The role offers the opportunity to develop technical expertise, take responsibility for project delivery and contribute to the continued growth and success of the company.
We welcome applications from candidates with experience in environmental assessment, planning, ecology, landscape or related disciplines. You may currently be working in consultancy, local government or another environmental field. The successful candidate is likely to demonstrate:
- Experience preparing or contributing to environmental assessment, planning, ecology or landscape plans and projects.
- Strong analytical, organisational and report-writing skills.
- A good understanding of the UK planning system and environmental legislation.
- A thirst for knowledge and innovation.
- The ability to manage workloads, meet deadlines and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
- A commitment to field work, technical excellence and professional development.
- Chartered status, or progress towards chartership, would be advantageous but is not essential.
