The Business
This role sits within a confidential UK-European investment platform operating under the umbrella of LEOS International Group, a leading private international developer with a multi-billion portfolio across the UK, the UAE, and Asia. Leveraging the deep asset expertise and significant balance sheet of the Group, this platform operates as a principal lender, providing speed-critical financing (Bridging, Development, and Refurbishment loans) to high-quality SME developers in the UK and Europe.
The Role
We are seeking a commercially minded Financial Controller to lead the finance function for this specialised investment division. You will report directly to the Chairman's Office, ensuring our lending operations meet institutional standards of reporting, liquidity management, and regulatory compliance. This is a pivotal role for a qualified accountant who combines technical financial rigour with a deep understanding of the compliance frameworks required for a cross-border lending vehicle.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Accounting: Manage the full lifecycle accounting for the loan book, including accurate recognition of interest income, arrangement fees, and default interest across a portfolio of secured real estate assets.
- Regulatory & Operational Compliance: Act as the first line of defence for the platform. Oversee AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and KYC (Know Your Customer) protocols for borrower onboarding and ensure all lending activities adhere to strict internal governance and UK regulatory standards.
- Cross-Border Liquidity Management: Manage the treasury function for the investment platform, coordinating complex cross-border capital drawdowns from the global treasury to ensure funds are available for rapid deployment (targeting 24–48-hour decision timelines).
- Commercial Finance: Partner with the Head of Lending to model loan profitability, monitor Loan-to-Value (LTV) covenants, and track portfolio performance against group targets.
- Statutory & Tax Compliance: Manage all UK statutory obligations, including Corporation Tax and VAT, ensuring the platform remains fully compliant with HMRC regulations for private lenders.
The Candidate
- Qualification: Fully qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with 5+ years PQE.
- Compliance Expertise: Strong experience in Lending Compliance, AML, and KYC frameworks. You must understand the regulatory environment for private credit and the compliance requirements of operating a lending vehicle.
- Cross-Border Experience: Essential experience managing international/cross-border transactions, including multi-currency inter-company loans and transfer pricing.
- Industry Experience: Strong background in Private Credit, Bridging Finance, or Real Estate Investment Management.
- Profile: A hands-on builder who can operate in a fast-paced, developer-led environment.
