Leonid Group has been retained by a highly respected, market-leading consultancy in the R&D tax and innovation incentives space to hire a Senior Business Development Manager. This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing, specialist consultancy helping innovative businesses unlock funding through R&D tax incentives and wider innovation reliefs. With ambitious plans ahead, the business is continuing to invest in its commercial function. You’ll be joining an experienced, high-performing environment where technical expertise meets a modern, relationship-led sales approach. This is not a volume sales role. It’s about building meaningful relationships, adding value and positioning a premium service in a changing market.
The role involves driving new business, managing your own pipeline and building long-term relationships with both clients and introducers. Working closely with technical specialists and senior stakeholders, you’ll help businesses understand the value of innovation incentives and guide them through their eligibility.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and convert your own pipeline through targeted, personalised outreach across multiple channels
- Build strong relationships with prospective clients and position a premium advisory offering
- Educate businesses on innovation incentives, including R&D tax, Patent Box, grants and capital allowances
- Create and nurture referral channels through your network, clients and professional partners
- Collaborate with technical teams to progress opportunities effectively
- Maintain and manage your pipeline using CRM tools, ensuring accurate forecasting and delivery against targets
- Contribute to team development by sharing best practice and supporting junior team members
- Travel nationally to meet clients and build relationships face to face where needed
What they’re looking for:
- Proven track record in B2B business development, account management or relationship-led sales (typically 7+ years), ideally within R&D tax or broader innovation incentives
- Experience working with or selling into sectors such as fintech, SaaS, engineering, professional services or other tech-led businesses considered
- Strong commercial mindset with a consistent record of hitting or exceeding targets
- Confident engaging with senior stakeholders and able to adapt your approach to different audiences
- Entrepreneurial, proactive and comfortable building your own pipeline
