About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced R&D Tax professional to join their growing innovation incentives team as an Assistant Manager. This opportunity is ideal for someone with around 2-3 years of hands‑on experience preparing R&D claims who’s ready to take the next step into a leadership role.
You’ll be part of a collaborative national team that supports a diverse client base – from start‑ups to large corporates – across sectors such as manufacturing, engineering, life sciences, software, and digital technologies. The role offers strong progression potential, exposure to complex claims, and the chance to play a key part in the continued growth of the R&D service line.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of R&D Tax clients, ensuring timely delivery of high‑quality claims.
- Lead client meetings to identify qualifying activities, costs, and relevant projects.
- Review and refine technical and financial documentation prepared by junior team members.
- Draft clear, concise, and technically accurate project reports for HMRC submission.
- Support business development by identifying new opportunities within existing client relationships.
- Work closely with senior leadership to refine internal processes and maintain compliance with HMRC standards.
About You
- 2-3 years of experience preparing and managing R&D Tax claims (both technical and financial aspects).
- Degree‑qualified, ideally in a STEM, finance, or related discipline.
- Confident managing client relationships and presenting technical information clearly.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- A proactive and collaborative approach, with a keen eye for detail.
- Professional qualifications (ATT, CA, ACA, or CTA) are beneficial but not essential.
