Leonid Group is proud to be retained by a leading UK innovation advisory firm that helps ambitious companies secure meaningful grant funding and bring transformative projects to life.
This consultancy is known for helping innovative businesses access funding with confidence. Their work spans grant advisory, capital allowances, Patent Box, location strategy and, where relevant, R&D incentives. What sets them apart is their ability to combine deep technical understanding with strong commercial execution, bringing together specialists across science, engineering, technology and finance.
The grants team has already delivered significant success across life sciences, semiconductors, agriculture, automotive and advanced manufacturing, including supporting the largest UK grant of its kind. The firm is now focused on scaling this offering further.
This is a senior, commercially led role at the centre of the firm’s growth strategy. The focus is on winning work, building relationships, and shaping the future of the grants service, rather than hands-on delivery.
You will lead early stage client conversations, working closely with founders, finance leaders and technical stakeholders to identify funding opportunities, shape propositions, and position the firm as a trusted advisor. You will be confident discussing scope, value and fees, and converting opportunities into live engagements.
While you will retain oversight of quality and approach, delivery will sit primarily with the grants team. Your role is to originate work, guide strategy, and ensure the right projects are being pursued in the right way.
What you will bring:
- Strong experience advising on UK grant funding, ideally from a consultancy background
- A proven track record of winning new business within grant advisory or related innovation services
- Confidence leading senior, consultative sales conversations with credibility and commercial judgement
- Sufficient technical understanding to challenge projects, assess suitability and guide funding strategy
- Experience managing client portfolios and building long term relationships
- The ability to work closely with delivery teams to shape opportunities without owning execution
- Exposure to innovation loans, Horizon Europe, or regional growth funding is beneficial but not essential.
Why this role stands out:
This is a genuine opportunity to take commercial ownership of a growing grants practice. You will have autonomy, visibility and influence, backed by a wider advisory business that is committed to investing in this service line and scaling it sustainably.
